Please turn in a 2-3 page precis on the "State of the Field" - from this discussion, what do you find are the top three issues in immigration history?

2-Assigned Discussion Lead (30 Pts): You will be assigned a book and a week to help lead discussion. Your will be expected to lead discussion, and that is, to get others to talk about the reading. You will be expected to provide the class with reading questions, along with writing a precis on one of the books for the week (I will assign you one)

3-Participation in Class Discussions/ 50 Pts.

Historiographic Paper-60 Points (15%)/ 21 October

An 8-10 concisely written essay on the most significant aspects in the study of immigration history; a historiographic essay. Sum up the most insightful points from the books and articles you have read. What is the nature of immigration in U.S. History, according to historians? Be sure to include a thoughtful evaluation of your points in your conclusion--your overall evaluation of significant historical points might serve as part of the introduction to your individual research paper.

Your paper should be double spaced, with either footnotes or endnotes a la Chicago Style. Little Stuff: Please be sure to banish microsoft's "calibri" font by settng the default font to Times Roman 12. Also, please change the default so there is no additional space between paragraphs. Include page numbers, and no cover page is necessary.

Individual Research Paper-240 Points (60%)/ 9 December

1-Proposal, due 10/7: Please include the following for your research proposal-40 Pts

2. Your Method (How do you propose to find answers, what primary sources will you use and how will you use them?)

3. Bibliography with Annotated Primary Sources

2-Rough Draft by 11/18 if you would like my feedback

3-Presentation of Research, 12/2 & 12/9 (20 Pts)

Please bring in a typed page on the day of your presentation, to turn in, that includes, briefly, your thesis at the top and an outline of your points of evidence below, from your primary sources.
