Buffalo Bill

"He was born in February 26, 1846 in Iowa. He was raised in Colorado, Kansas.

He was an American soldier, bison hunter and showman. He was one of the most colorful figures of the American Old West, and mostly famous for the shows he organized with cowboy themes. Buffalo Bill received the Medal of Honor in 1872.

At age of 15, he became a rider for the Pony Express and later served in the American Army during Civil War. In 1867 – 1868, he hunted buffalo to feed construction crews for the Union Pacific Railroad; he became known as “Buffalo Bill” after slaughtering 4,280 head of buffalo in eight months. He was a scout for the U.S. 5th Cavalry as it subdued Indian resistance.

He was frontier settler, scout, and soldier of the nineteenth century. He was involved in several military actions against Native Americans and later turned to entertainment, founding the celebrated “Wild West Show.” The Show toured in U.S. Canada and Europe. Buffalo Bill's “Wild West Show” was a major influence in the creation of the popular image of the romantic and exciting old West.

In 1869, Ned Buntline wrote “Buffalo Bill” novel. Judson produces the first of many dime novels celebrating the exploits of William F. Cody, whom Judson had met on a trip west and named "Buffalo Bill." Judson would later write a play about Buffalo Bill, The Scouts of the Plain 1873, starring Cody as himself and launching Cody's career as an entertainer."

I found those quotes to be very interesting. Buffalo Bill's “Wild West Show” was a major influence in the creation of the popular image of the romantic and exciting old West.

He talks about that he feels free man when he rides his horse. Here he also said that he want to bring the West to the East to show them how the life is in the West. Cody was one of greatest man known in the West mostly known for his “Wild West Show” and people remembered him as Buffalo bill that was his nickname.
